The are unknown number of plants and species that are yet to be discovered in this planet. Destroying these precious resources for the sake of a hydro electric project is outrageous. There are numerous ways to procure the power required to run a country. But to ask the people to abandon their homes is not the right way.. Saving this planet, it's beauty and its resources must be our top priority.. Where else could we stay if we destroy these resources. I suggest that the hydro electric dam project to be stopped permanently or else to be relocated to a remote area if possible..

Hydro electricity is both smart and environmentally friendly and I support it 99% of the time but this is definitely the 1% exception. Hydro electricity is not worth driving tens of thousands of people out of their homes. It is a disgusting act on behalf of the Brazil Government and they should be ashamed of what they are doing to their own people. Best of luck to the innocent people of Brazil, do not back down, do not let them destroy your homes!

Thank you so much for supporting this cause. I was learning about this culture in Anthropology in my University. There is no way that they can place more value in a dam rather than 40000 people and the wildlife that they protect. There is no way that they should build that dam.

As an environmentalist and a human being it concerns and angers me to witness that our governments don't see the importance of the very few pristine ecosystems and cultures left on earth. The proposal to this project of constructing the hydroelectric dam is an example of greed and ignorance that will very soon consume our planet, and destroy our children's future world habitats. My heart goes out to the indiginous people and the beautiful Amazon world that surrounds them. The best of luck to Chief Raoni.

Dear President of Brazil
Dilma Rousseff, Brazilian Government and the whom it may concern:
Im writing in regards of building an hydro-power station in the Amazon rainforest, Belo Monte. I am concerned that is not very smart idea. You are intelligent people and i pledge for you to reconsider this construction.
1. 30,000 residents would be displaced by the construction.
2. fish stocks in Xingu river will be affected.
3. It would devastate vast areas of forest. Which means it also effects the CLIMATE CHANGE.
Rainforests need to be saved for next generations, otherwise our planet dies more early. There are surely more effective and less painful ways how to make power.
I fully support Chef RAONI and everyone who is against AMAZON damage.
Je soutiens le Chef Raoni et les populations indigènes du Xingù et demande l'abandon définitif du projet de barrage de Belo Monte.
Kind Regards
Klara Sadlova |
