| It's heartbreaking that political venues have the potential to take precedence over human life. People who continue to live off the land should be able to do so without intrusion of others. I pray for Chief Raoni and the indigenous people of Xingu. |

| What a disgrace that we have to petition to hold on to something that belongs only to mother nature and those who nurture it. What right do you have to destroy it all without any thought for the families and the effect you are having. I petition this dam project 100%. |
| I can only cry. Please, think of using wind, solar and other sources of renewable energy. It does not make sense to cut down life-sustaining forests for energy? There is NO ECONOMY, if there is no clean air, clean water, clean air producing forest canopies, species, fertile agricultural land, because there will be NO people, therefore, there is no economy to worry about. Please, think clearly and look at the big picture, the long-term impacts and these lovely people who are going to lose their home. They have not done anything wrong, they have not misused and overused resources like the rest of the world, these people haven't even come close. | Save the rainforest!! It's one of the largest, most diverse ecosystems in the world! You ought to know this. If mother nature intended for a dam to be there, she would have created it herself. Hydroelectricity is a smart resource, but you will be ruining lives upon lives by further demolishing your own sacred land. Electricity ultimately leads to pollution and the depletion of that which is pure. Have a heart and think of the generations to come. Why not consider solar energy instead?? |
| I believe that this is wrong. The reports calling for 40,000 indigenous people to be displaced, not to mention the amounts of ecological destruction that will result from this dam, is absolutely horrific. I want to do my part to save the Xingu. I am signing this petition. |
| When will the greed stop? When will we solve our problems without the destroying the lives of 40,000 people who are viewed as less important than the majority population? Please, for once, let compassion overcome consumerism. |
| There must be someone in the Brazillian government who is less short sighted and more respectful of indigenous people's right to exist unmolested. I call on someone brave enough to take on this challenge and permanently abandon the Belo Monte hydroelectric dam project. |
