I am very against this dam being built for many reasons!!
Message de Dawn, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
Building this dam will affect the lives of over 40,000 VALUABLE people!
Message de Michael, Canada - 14/02/2012
This destruction needs to stop.
Message de Lilliana, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
The bulding of the plant means the destruction of these people. When I read this was happening, my heart felt heavy. I truly hope more support can be rounded up. I will try to spread the word...
Message de Tatiana, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
I pledge my and my family's support to Chief Raoni and his people. We vehemently oppose the development of the dam project, which will wipe out this tribe's lands and create atrocious environmental issues not only for Brazil, but for the world. As United States citizens, we continue to be ashamed of our country's treatment of our native peoples. Please learn from us, and do not make these mistakes in the name of "progress". It is not such. The government of Brazil is smart enough to find alternate ways to bring plenty to all of its people.
Message de Julieta, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
Não e neccessario, e vão a repender muito.
Message de Shaun, Australie - 14/02/2012
I support Chief Raoni and the indigenous peoples of Xingu
Message de John, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
I support Chief Raoni and the Xingu people wholeheartedly. Let them live their lives in peace!

PEOPLE POWER, people ! !

Just like the Native Americans in the United States whose lives and livelihood were decimated in the name of 'progress', western civilization's consumptive sprawl yet again steams ahead by cutting down everything in its path, regardless of the inhabitants or their sacred land. It is shameful and I cry inside.

First they will displace the indigenous Xingu people. Without their native existence they will then die off.
Eventually towns and streets will be named after them..........

Let's not let this happen.
Message de Travis, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
...globalization at it's finest. we're all human beings and we're all in this together. I don't see how something like this can happen in the name of money. but I guess that's how it goes, money makes the world go 'round..
Message de Marilyn, Royaume-Uni - 14/02/2012
Stop killing the planet and destroying natural habitation for life on Earth. Projects like this can only kill life and destroy ancient cultures that have been around for thousands of years. Countless numbers of animal species will be wiped out as their habitat is destroyed. Enough damage has been done to the planet's fragile eco system already. It is struggling to recover. Building dams like this will only kill you off in the end. Stop it NOW!
Message de AARON, Australie - 14/02/2012
DO NOT DESTROY THE JUNGLE.
Please!! my country Australia has enough space for you to do this without driving anyone out of their home.

Australia is wide open!

My heart breaks for these innocent people.
Message de carolina, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012

Message de Abhimanyu, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
I support the indigenous peoples of Xingu. Please abandon the Belo Monte hydroelectric dam project so that indigenous way of life is protected, so that Amazon's biodiversity is protected.
Message de Heather, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
Why should many thousands of people lose their homes to a dam? That makes little sense to me. Not to mention the destruction deforestation would bring to the wildlife living in that area. Surely it would mess with the peoples' economic structure. While I am a Westerner, I say we should keep our Western ways out of a culture NOT our own. We shouldn't act like we own everything. That's ridiculous.
XAVIER
Message de Mary Grace, Philippines - 14/02/2012
This will be a huge lost to our fellow Indians and also to our environment! Stop belo monte!
Message de Shahira, Canada - 14/02/2012
InshaAllah your people will survive. My prayers are with you.
Message de Annie, Canada - 14/02/2012
Please, stop this madness, we can't destroy everything on the planet just to make more money! It makes me really sad to know this!
Message de Marisa, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
Do not take the home away from the indigenous people! They are humans and deserve to be treated as such! A hydroelectric dam will NEVER be more important than human beings. These people do not deserve this! Please stop the project now!
Message de Anna, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
What gives the government the right to move 40,000 people from their home! That is completely and morally wrong!
Message de Caitlin, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
Please do not ruin this beautiful land filled will numerous species and groups of people! Enough of the Earth is covered in water!
Message de Jennifer, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
We are destroying ways of life that have existed for centuries without hardly any fore thought as to how the next this project will affect 2 generations from now.
The Dam is a mistake. We need the knowledge of how to live on the planet symbiotically. We are eradicating that knowledge by destroying the communities that hold that information and presence of mind.
Message de Kirsten, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
Please do not build this plant. The amazon is precious land. You are hurting the earth.
Message de Rebekah, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
The construction of this hydroelectric dam
will destroy things of much greater value than the dam itself: the indigenous peoples of the land and their culture, and the invaluable resources of the rainforest and surrounding environment. This project is beyond rationale in this day and age. PROTECT AND PRESERVE YOUR NATURAL RESOURCES! There are other ways to procure power.
Message de Matthew, Canada - 14/02/2012
I hope you guys win this, it hurts me to know that this was even considered to begin with. Live long and fight strong my friends.
