We MUST INSIST that this project is permanently abandoned to protect the catastrophic environmental and cultural destruction that will result. We must begin NOW to transfer our priorities because the current choices are not sustainable - they WILL fail.

We do not need a dam. We can use less resources. We need a planet that is whole and healthy for the future. And indigenous peoples need their homeland. It's our planet to care for not pillage.

Please respect our Earth mother, who will never be the same if this project is allowed to happen. And, it is just plain wrong to remove indigenous peoples for the sake of modern capitalism. The harm done will be irreparable.
Message de Mary, Etats Unis (USA) - 29/09/2011

You don't need to be uprooting thousands of people and leaving them without a home. That is not progress! Please stop this now.

Not only would the dam destroy the history and land of native people, it would wipe out invaluable acres of rainforest. Look to Bolivia as a leader and take a longer view of human survival.

I urgently request that the proposed development of the Belo Monte hydroelectric dam is halted and that Chief Raoni and his people are left make the decision as to what is right for them as the indigenous peoples of the area. It is shocking that such a development should be allowed occur in such an environmentally sensitive andimportant area for the earth and any development as such will negatively impact on the entire human race.

STOP destroying our planet you have no rights to do this, it will not only effect the indigenous people of Xingu but everyone on this planet. Our planet is a living being that needs no more abuse but loving care. STOP NOW before it is too late. Think of all the generations to come.

How a country can be so stupid that it is destroying it's own kind and habitat? If you sacrifice your natural resources for money just look at the countries of the Middle East. Do you want to sit in the desert and eat dollar bills?

The fact that human greed is, once again, being wielded as progress is tragic. I fully support the sovereignty of the peoples of Xingu to maintain their lands of heritage. I support them in their proposition to abandon the Belo Monte Dam.
