Message de Daniel, Australie - 14/02/2012
It makes me sick to see that the Brazilian Govt can approve of this...Why is it so hard to learn from our past? We should all be ashamed at our lack of respect for indigenous cultures and ultimately ourselves.
Message de Brandon, Canada - 14/02/2012
Negatives far outweight the positives, aside from the human impact, the impact on the environment and ecosystem will be massive. Brazil gets a lot of sun, invest the money that would be spent on the dam into solar electricity alternatives. The dam is not needed.
Message de LIANE, Australie - 14/02/2012
Please don't take away one of the last place of natural beauty, Haven't we done enough damage to the world surely there is another way. Please leave something beautiful for the generations to come.
Message de Cheneil, Canada - 14/02/2012
This dam is an infringement on the rights of the Kayapo peoples, and is a serious crime.
Message de Ashley, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
Don't build the dam. Don't make the same mistake of Hetch Hetchy.
Message de Maire, Australie - 14/02/2012
It is time the people of the world stand up to the so called rulers of this Earth, and tell them what we really think!!! The power hungry and greedy men need to listen!!
Message de Andrew, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
I disagree with a decision made to threaten the land and its people of South America by proposing the Belo Monte hydroelectric dam project. Please reconsider your actions and look for more sustainable resources to provide energy. As a citizen of the United States I feel that we have made many mistakes and cannot change that. But you can by keeping the true gem of South America.
Message de Max, Malaisie - 14/02/2012
Do treat others right!
Message de Asad, France - 14/02/2012
Never would I allow this.
Message de Kavita, Malaisie - 14/02/2012
How would you like it if your homes got destroyed? And your family had no place to go just because you didnt have the resources that you need? Just because you have the power, that doesnt mean you ruin lives which have been living in the amazon rich with culture and tradition that you will never understand ever!!!
Message de Veronica, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
Please don't do something so catastrophically irreversable to both your country, these people and the world.
Message de Carla, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
I am a proud to say that i have signed this petition and devastated about the lack of news coverage and significance this has taken. I wish to spread the word, and hopefully get rid of the d*** forever.
Message de Sarah, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
Hydroelectric dams are environmental catastrophes that greatly affect biodiversity and this one, in particular, will destroy the livelihood of one of your indigenous tribes! If everything is for sale, nothing is sacred- leave some things sacred.
Message de sepideh, Canada - 14/02/2012
WE need to protect our indeginous people and our forest it is imperitive to our survival.
Message de Alejandro, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
Stop the raping of the Amazon and its indigenous people! Progress should not be at the cost of human lives! Progress should benefit EVERYONE, not just the majority. Please show sympathy for these people; no one wants their homes taken away.
Message de Matthew, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
The cost benefit analysis is seriously flawed as the good that this dam will bring is far outweighed by the negative affects on the people of your country.
Message de Mélissa, Canada - 14/02/2012
Pour une cause qui me tient particulièrement à coeur!
Message de Taryn, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
As a native american indian, I plead to not relocate these people. There are other, better ways. This is how you murder traditions, languages, and entire cultures. Do not murder something even greater than life alone.
Message de Jeanette, Singapour - 14/02/2012
I hope the government will at least offer you guys compensation and replacement housing, even if this petition is unable to stop the project from going ahead : \ you guys are in my thoughts and prayers.
Message de Julie, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
This is an atrocity. These poor people will not only lose their way of life but the environment and natural habitat for the poor wildlife will be destroyed. All fir what? A big pile of money for the few. With regrets hydroelectric power was put here in Oregon - when will they ever learn?!!!
Message de Ivan, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
I believe that the lungs of the world and the few natives left that have clung to their roots need to face anymore pain and suffering then as to what they have already received since their past and present. I rather believe in green technology but not at the cost of life and environment( which is kind of hypocritical).
Message de Sarah, Canada - 14/02/2012
Even though we are countries apart, we will always unite to fight for what is right.
Message de Martha, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
Our prayers go so that the proposed Belo Monte hydroelectric dam project is stopped permanently.
Message de Kat, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
Destroying a forest, exterminating species, and killing a culture and its people is NOT okay. Building this dam and causing untold damage to both nature and humanity is horrible, a crime to the world.
Message de Joe, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
Please Stop the Damage!!! to those poor people let them have the freedom they deserve! please find another place or way to make power...
Message de Krystina, Canada - 14/02/2012
As an Algonquin Native in Canada, I find it thoroughly disturbing that the world's indigenous people are still being bullied into giving up their rights to land. Land which they use PROPERLY to support and maintain their existence, WITHOUT abusing its gifts.
Message de Leonie, Canada - 14/02/2012
please do not build the dam!
Message de Murielle, Canada - 14/02/2012
Destroying and redefining the lifestyle of entire poeple groups is cultural genocide. Messing with teh lungs of the world, as is the Amazon forest, is to further sicken the earth that sustains us. Do not build this dam.
Message de Yael, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
Shame on humans who think they can destroy human life for greed.
Message de Gianfranco, Etats Unis (USA) - 14/02/2012
The earth is gasping for air, and your suffocating more and more by using these false and synthetic sources of energy.
