They are a shining example to our children and must be protected at all costs. Money is worth nothing if you ruin lives to get it. Sadly if you proceed, it seems you will not discover this until it is too late and your legacy will be one of regret and shame. Do not allow the temptation of money to twist you into doing the wrong thing. The choice is in your hands. PLEASE choose what you know is right. |

| I am a brazilian living in Canada e supporting the native people of Brazil and the ones who relies on the Amazon rivers for their survivor. |
| We must respect nature & mother earth, or she will not be able to sustain & nurture us back.We have a partnership of dependence,without a healthy earth we die.Too many precious people and cultures have been lost already in the name of progress. This is ignorance, we need to learn from the past mistakes!The delicate balance of survival for the tribal people must be protected and respected.Ultimately it is for the well being of everyone that this enviromental destruction be stopped. For the health of our bodies a well as our spirits! Protect and nuture that which is invaluable and irreplaceable. | Esta usina como tantas outras que se instalaram às margens das mais frágeis leis ambientais, é um absurdo e por várias razões: traz o caos e a destruição para povos indígenas; ignora novas formas e fontes de energia (solar, éolica, magnetismo, geradores, energia livre (orgone), gás metano (dos estrumes e biodigestores), etc; Não educa para economia de energia; Não sai de um modelo de produção linear para outro sustentável. Não a belo monte e seu flagrante desrespeito a opinião pública, à inteligência e ao bom senso e sua insana entrega ao interesses excusos de realizar este nefasto projeto. |

| Dams have a history of causing long term problems. Please find a more sustainable solution. What will you do when all the forests have been cut down? You will still be facing problems? Please look for long term solutions. |
| Greetings from the United States. I realize it is difficult in our modern times to meet the energy needs of an ever-expanding population and economy. However, it is critical that we not sacrifice our planet and its indigenous peoples for the sake of "progress." I urge you to permanently abandon the proposed Belo Monte hydroelectric dam project. Lest you think that an American like myself is hypocritical in making such a plea, I assure that you I also make such urgent appeals to President Obama and other elected officials here: We must protect our environment and not sacrifice it for short-term gain. I also assure you that there are millions upon millions upon millions of Americans who feel similarly. Of course I can't say that through having spoken with them directly; however I can say truthfully that hundreds of my family, friends and acquaintances feel this way. And they have hundreds of other family, friends and acquaintances, and so on. And whether or not these millions also sign petitions, public opinion polls clearly reveal the fact that millions do, indeed hold this view. Please show true leadership to Brazil and the world. Please consider - and act upon such consideration - that we are but stewards of the world for our children. Please consider that on a dead planet, the economy and all other human endeavors are irrelevant. Thank you. |
