| The economic and ecological consequences of building this dam far exceed the value it will bring to the Brazilian economy. The Amazon jungle is a pharmacoepic treasure trove and its is irreplaceble. Dams are often a short sighted solution to power bottlenecks and there are far better options. PLease explore those options and stop the dam project.Protect your nations and the worlds great wonder of the world. |
| I am angry and full of hopelessness at the obvious lack of integrity shown by the Brasilian President, and by world leaders in general who are condoning the worse violation of human rights since the holocaust. The Bel Monte hydroelectric dam clearly will not resolve Brasil's energy problem and will create an environmental disaster - not only in loss of life, human, animal and plant, but also causing the release of tons of methane gas into the earth's atmosphere, causing irreversible damage and climate change. I will boycott the Football World Cup and will work actively to discourage others from either attending or watching any games. I am appalled that FIFA has not excercised the influence that they most certainly have, to support the indigenous people of Brasil at this time. I would expect that they make a public statement to the effect that they would pull out of Brasil given the circumstances. Shame on the President of Brasil, on World Leaders and on FIFA for being accomplices to the greatest violation of man and nature since the 'discovery' of the Americas. My heart and soul are with my brothers in the Amazon jungle. They guard it for our children and I will do what I can to support them. |
| Please could you take a little more time to concider the benifits of not killing off a hole way of life.I do understand that ther are also many other people who in a modernising and growing country need electric but the anciant knowledge and future investments in tourism must surely help to solidify the long term stability of long term growth.
