Non au barrage de Belo Monte.
Foutez la paix aux populations indigènes du Xingu. |
Message de Joyce, Royaume-Uni - 18/06/2012 |

By clearing the Xingu people from their Amazonian homes to make a hydroelectric dam, not only will the people need rehoming, but the whole ecology of the rainforest will be devastated. Surely this is not progress. The proposed project sounds as though it is from the 1950s, not the 21st centuary. |

These people are heroes saving the river from being damned. Earth needs so many heroes now as we pollute and kill so cruelly for money. What is money but an illusion? Life is what is truly valuable. And quality of life with clean water, fresh air and healthy food. |

It is so important to preserve the knowledge of respect for nature that our system has forgotten and people like the kayapo mantain. |

It is unconscionable to consider destroying the homes of indigenous peoples and erradicating forever indigenous life forms that can be found no where else on this Earth. The hydroelecric dam is an innadaquate form of electricity for the cost involved. For the cost and displacement and destruction of so many and so much, is this the most viable option? In a world where solar panals and wind turbines are available and effective, where even plans for magnet generators can be found online, I believe anyone who chooses this route is just being cruel. I implore you, Dont think like a politician or a corporate CEO, think like a man. Think like a leader. Do what is best. Do what is right. Give your country options for power that are inexpensive while not displacing the natural order of things. |

It will take the voices of many good people to fight against the greed of building this Dam. The price is to great to the human race as well as to all living things. The destruction of world waters and air. This is one of those "tipping points" to cause major changes in the atmosphere. |
Message de Justin, Etats Unis (USA) - 17/06/2012 |

Such a lack of acknowledgement for other peoples and such display of power is nothing more than the perpetuation of colonialism, the very mentality that has motivated the ecological destruction on our planet. Face the people whose livlihoods engage what you aim to destroy and ask yourself what dignity allows you to take what does not belong to you. If this still seems insignificant, know that you have people around the world engaging each other in a dialogue about your actions, and remember how much of your identity and self worth is determined by what people think of you, and how your careers depend on it. |

The potential for harm far outweighs the potential for gain in this Belo Monte Dam project. I wish you would see this as clearly as so many of us do!
Please, stop this project! |

This project should be stopped by all means. The hydroelectric dam is not going to make the country rich, it will only destroy it slowly but surely within 100 years. Prosperity only comes with balance. A small group of individual who will profit from this dam is insignificant to the billion of lives (creatures, plants, and people) that it will effect; none of which will come back because of it. May GOD help us ALL in this matter. |

This project must be stopped. The indigenous peoples of Xingu deserve to live their lives uniterrupted by 'progress' that would destroy their way of life. The Belo Monte hydroelectric dam project is an atrocity! |
