è uno scandalo..perchè distruggere la foresta e privare 40000 indigeni del loro habitat quando già il nostro mondo si sta distruggendo pian piano x colpa dell'uomo?

Stop the damn dam. We've destroyed enough.
Message de Aurora, Etats Unis (USA) - 29/01/2012
Belo Monte hydroelectric dam project on Xingu river in Brasil, will destroy Amazon Rainforest and indigenous tribes. There must be an alternative. History has shown that projects like these often are not worth the lives that they destroy. There is always another alternative.
Message de Ewa, Pologne - 29/01/2012
I'm supporting you with all my heart. There is no future without respecting our past!
Message de LaRue, Etats Unis (USA) - 29/01/2012
It is crucial to preserve indigenous cultures and wildlife for future generations. The destruction of these is not "progress."

I support the indigenous people of Xingu and I request that the Belo Monte hydroelectric dam project be abandoned. Due to the harm and long term effects to the land and the people. Do Not Build That Dam, to make more Money and further Progress!!!! We already know that in the United States.
Message de Athena, Etats Unis (USA) - 28/01/2012
this is completely unnecessary and the rainforest in itself is a source of life not only for the inhabitants of this land but also for the animals and millions of other species which occupy it. it is shameful to even consider further destruction. I am personally appauled
Message de roberti, Italie - 28/01/2012
é ora che i popoli originari delle terre conquistate dopo la scoperta dell'america riabbiano le loro terre.
Vergogna agli assassini!
Message de Doris, Canada - 28/01/2012
Without the example of these people, who are truly sovreign, truly free, and truly responsible for their own existence, how will we be able to cope with the coming times? Please leave them content and happy on their ancestral lands.
Message de Provost, Etats Unis (USA) - 28/01/2012
In respect of Xingu Peoples lands, knowledges and ways of life, my spouse appeal to you to abandon this dam project. The dam will destroy many aspects of the customary and sacred lifeways of les populations indigenes du Xingu, making the dam a modern form of many types of genocide.
We hope you will choose to abandon the plans for the dam, to act in favour of the life for health and well-being of the Xingu Peoples and their environment, and engage in negotiations that will be acceptable for Xingu Peopples via alternative culturally approved and culurally appropriate means of fulfilling your financial/development goals.
A good book for guidance is Cultural Resource Management by Stapp.

Hydroelectric & Geothermal Engineers,

We both know that hydroelectric plants are more wasteful than they are effective in producing clean, usable energy. In theory they answer many of our energy demands, but in reality they are more often than not inefficiently and irresponsibly managed, leading to decreased, projected energy outputs. The same energy outputs that originally made this project feasible.

We have other energy sources that are cheaper to finance and more feasible in the long-run. (Feasible meaning financially, environmentally, and socially sustainable.) You know that this plant will not be run at 100% capacity; they rarely are... and if it ever is, the magnitude of destruction it will cause within an indeterminable radius will be irreversible.

Your knowledge and chosen practice can really make a difference in this world. Don't let it be a damaging one.

No hostility, just reason,

Case
